How to Receive Payments with Payment Links

A payment link is a URL that takes customers directly to a unique checkout page to complete their purchase. It is a convenient and secure way to collect payments online and deposit them directly into your Bloc account.

Payment links allow you to give your customers different options to pay you with — Card, Bank transfer, & Wallet with just one URL, and you can create as many payment links as you want on your Bloc Dashboard.

In this article, you'll learn how to create a payment link and start using it to receive online payments for your business.

How to Create a Payment Link

To create a payment link, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, go to Payment Links.

  1. Click on Create payment link and enter the details requested.
    1. Link name: This is the name of your Payment Link. You can name your link your business name. However, if you intend to use this link for a particular product, you can name it by the product.
    2. Description (optional): Describe what you are selling with your payment link. This is optional, but it's useful if you want to give your customers more context about what they're paying for.
    3. Currency: This is the currency in which you are receiving the payment. Naira is automatically chosen here.
    4. Amount: This is how much you want to collect from your customers. You can leave this blank if you want your customers to input any amount they want.

  1. Click on the create payment link button, and you're done. Your Payment Link is now live and published online. You can copy this link and send it to your customers to start accepting payments.

If you'd like to see how your payment link works before sending it to customers, click on preview payment link. You will be provided a page showing what your payment link looks like.

How it works

  • Once you send your customers your payment link and they enter their name and email address to pay, they will see a page showing the list of methods they can pay with your business.

    They can now go ahead to choose whatever method is most convenient for them and click on pay.


  • Once their payment is successful, they will receive the transaction receipt in their email, while their payment will be immediately deposited into your incoming settlement.

    All incoming payment link transactions will be settled to your main account by 10 a.m. the next day.

How to View Your Payment Links

To view your payment links, go to the Payment Links page. Here, you'll be able to view a list of all the payment links you have created over time. You can click on a link in the table or the icon beside it to copy the link to your clipboard.

All your existing Payment Links are arranged underneath the following columns:

    1. Link name: This is the name of your Payment link.
    2. Amount: This indicates the amount you have specified to collect with the Payment link or whether the customer is able to enter a custom amount (listed as Open).
    3. Link ID: This is a direct link to the page where customers can pay you. This is what you share with your customers.
    4. Status: This is the status of the payment link. If it is Enabled, people can access it; if it's disabled, your customers cannot use it to make payment.
    5. Date: This is the date the payment link was created.


Apart from viewing your payment links, here are the different ways to use the payment links page:

  1. The filter button helps you to view whether the links you have created are Enabled or Disabled. You can also filter by the date they were created.
  2. The search field allows you to search for a specific Payment Link by entering its name into the search field and pressing enter.
  3. The Create a payment link button allows you to be able to create and publish a new payment link.
  4. You can click the "more" icon to perform more actions on a Payment Link.

How to View Your Payments History on the Dashboard

You can view your settlements on the dashboard in two ways:

  • By clicking on the "more" icon on a particular payment link, and clicking payment link details, you will be able to view all previous transactions from that payment link.

  • By navigating to the Home page and clicking on "View settlement history" on the Incoming Settlement tab.

    Here, you will see a list of all your previous transactions and can filter by date, transaction status and others.

How many payment links can I create?

There is no limit to how many payment links you can create on Bloc.

How long is a payment link valid?

Payment links are valid till the moment you disable them on your dashboard.

Can I use payment links on mobile devices?

Each payment link is mobile-friendly and accessible on various devices.

How much does it cost to use payment links?

Creating a payment link on the Bloc Dashboard is free. However, we charge a fee on every successful payment made to your business. We usually deduct this from your main balance.

What currency will I receive my payments in?

Currently, you can only receive customer payments in naira. However, USD bank accounts will be available on Bloc in the next few months to help you accept payments from anywhere in the world.

My customer made a payment, but I did not receive my settlement.

This is almost impossible, but in the rare case that it does, please send an email to [email protected], or chat with Support in the widget at the bottom left corner of the Dashboard.
