Can I delete my bank accounts

No. You cannot delete a virtual account that has been created as we do not allow businesses to delete the accounts created on our infrastructure. However, you can close a sub-account to stop transactions from happening on it going forward.

Why Can't I Delete an Account?

All bank accounts created are licensed by the CBN. We are obligated to keep records of every account that we have created for a customer.

In a case where an account has been involved in fraudulent or suspicious activity, not allowing it to be deleted means we can reference and query any account no matter how long ago it was created.
